Hulman Field, Ind. -- As the new Wing Director of Psychological Health (WDPH) I am pleased to introduce myself to the Airmen of the 181st. My name is Kim Salsman, MS, LMHC. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
The Wing DPH is in place to provide assessment, counseling/problem solving, education/motivation, clinical referrals, and follow up services needed to increase Airmen's ability to cope. Topics addressed may include, but are not limited to, relationship, family, marital, job stress, chemical dependency, substance abuse, health/medical issues, parenting, grief, and emotional and/ or violence issues. This is a free and confidential service which is provided to Airmen and their families. The only time it is not confidential is in situations involving child or elder abuse, domestic violence, suicidal or homicidal ideation, or if you are informed prior to the session such as, but not limited to, cases of mandated evaluations.
Briefly about myself, I am originally from Putnam County and earned my bachelors here in Terre Haute at Indiana State University . My master's degree was earned at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga. I have over 21 years post master's experience. My most recent position was as a Military and Family Life Consultant housed by the National Guard at J9 in Indianapolis. I look forward to being here at the 181st and want to thank everyone for the warm welcome I have experienced.
As I develop and implement the Psychological Health Program, there is opportunity to make it specific to your needs. I ask if you have ideas and suggestions, concerns or recognize a specific need, please contact me. I am located in Bldg. 3 near the Chaplain, in the old work out room. I am typically on site Monday through Friday 07:30-16:30. In the event of an emergent issue, I am available 24/7. I am also here on drill weekends for appointments and walk-ins. If I am out of the office it will be posted on my door, however, you may contact me by phone. Once my Blackberry is issued the number will be made available to everyone.
Thank you again and feel free to ask any questions regarding services.
